Pyrite, often called "Fools Gold", has a silvery-yellow to golden metallic color. It is very common and may occur in large crystals. It has been used by ancient civilizations as jewelry, but today is used as an ornamental stone, as well as a gemstone in jewlery.
Pyrite comes in numerous shapes. This small crystal aggregates gives off a beautiful glistening effect in light. The one displayed in the image is in a pyritohedron form. Pyritohedron is a crystal form of 12 pentagonal faces.
